Maria Martinez

Maria Martinez is the managing partner of Rushing & Guice and has earned a reputation for providing sound counsel and meticulous representation. In addition to her significant experience in real estate, business and commercial law, Martinez conducts a general civil practice that also includes estate planning and administration, maritime finance and toxic tort litigation.

Martinez joined Rushing & Guice, P.L.L.C. in 1997 and became a member of the firm in 2002.

Martinez was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1994, the Mississippi Bar in 1995, the New York state bar in 2015 and the Georgia bar in 2019. She is admitted to practice in various courts, both state and federal, in Louisiana, Mississippi, and New York, including the United States Court of International Trade.

A native of Raceland, Louisiana, Martinez earned a Bachelor of Science degree in history from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She received her Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1994.

In 2008, Martinez was honored as one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women by the Mississippi Business Journal. The Journal also named her one of the state’s Top 40 under 40 young business leaders in 2007. The local chapter of the American Business Women’s Association honored Martinez, a two-term president, as its Woman of the Year in 2006. She was also chosen as a member of the Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation’s 2012 Masters Class and the Coast Chamber’s Leadership Gulf Coast Class of 2014.

On May 1, 2017, Maria Martinez was admitted to practice and argue cases before the Supreme Court of the United States, Washington D.C.

Martinez is a member of the American Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, the Harrison County Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association. Other memberships include the American Land Title Association, the Dixie Land Title Association and the Ocean Springs Rotary Club.
